PMIST M. Tech. Admissions 2023: Courses, Placement, Fees

Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology accepts students for the M. Tech. programme based on the Uni-GUAGE PG Tech exam score AND/OR marks in the qualifying exam (BE/B. Tech. percentage) i.e. appearing for the entrance is optional if you feel your BE/B. Tech. score is good enough to get you selected. How-ever if you appear for the exam the total marks calculated would include 50% of Uni-GUAGE score and 50% of the qualifying exam marks. With Uni-GAUGE PGTech Entrance you can apply for M. Tech in Uni-GAUGE member universities.

Uni-GUAGE PGTech is an online computer based test for which you need to register separately. Date of Uni-GAUGE PGTech test.

1. Candidates must visit the following link: http://pmu.edu/UG_PG_Application.aspx in order to download the application form and the admission prospectus.
2. Fill in the application form with complete details carefully.
3. Choose to pay the application fee of Rs.600/- (Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PwD) through DD drawn in favour of “The registrar, PMIST” payable at Thanjavur or online.
4. Submit the application form and keep the printed copy of the submitted application form.

Documents required

• Certified copies related to educational qualification, age, community etc. are to be submitted by the candidates.
• Attested copies of certificates duly signed by Gazetted Officers are to be submitted as well.

The eligibility criteria for the programs mentioned above is given below. Candidates must satisfy all eligibility requirements set by Periyar Maniammai University in order to seek admission in the M. Tech. programs offered by the university.

Eligibility Criteria:

• A BE/B. Tech. degree in the relevant discipline with minimum 45% marks (40% for reserved categories SC, ST and OBC).

Selection of the candidates is based on clearing the required cut-off in the Uni-GUAGE entrance exam and normalization of BE/B. Tech. marks with 50% weightage given to each. 

If you do not wish to appear for the Uni-GUAGE PGTech exam then you can be selected on the basis of normalized BE/B. Tech. marks.

Reservation

Reservation of seats would be as per the norms of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Govt. of India.

Exam Pattern

• The PGTech Exam is for 3 Hours. It consists of 85 multiple choice questions (MCQs).
• There is no negative marks for wrong answers.
• The number of questions in each subject will be based on the number of hours assigned by statutory agencies during the graduate program.
• 20 questions on General Aptitude (Verbal and Numerical) of 1 mark each.
• 30 questions on Basic science (Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Computing) of 1 mark each.
• Stream specific questions. 20 questions of 1 mark each and 15 questions of 2 marks each.
