The program is unique in that it is located in the College of Natural Sciences, giving our majors a solid background in statistics as well as the physical sciences. The HDFS curriculum focuses on helping students develop knowledge and experience about individuals and families through observation, interaction, research, and writing.
The curriculum also provides opportunities for students to implement the skills they have mastered through a required practicum course. An undergraduate major in HDFS provides excellent preparation for graduate school or advanced degrees as well as a future in allied health professions, research careers in HDFS, or for employment that has indirect or direct contact with children, adults, or families.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
- Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.
Language Requirments:
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
- Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission.
International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
