In the College of Education at Augusta University we focus on scholarly research, informed and creative teaching, the creation of new knowledge through scholarship and upholding the highest standards of professional service to the community and society. Our mission is to educate and prepare prospective professionals to be knowledgeable, highly effective and ethical practitioners who transform learners into thinking, productive citizens.

The MAT is a graduate level initial teacher certification program. This program is designed for candidates that have obtained an undergraduate degree in a field outside of education. The plan of study for the MAT requires 39 credit hours of course work. The course-work is done in a dual-delivery mode - candidates in the MAT attend classes on campus and are placed in area partner schools for authentic field experience.
