The program leads to teacher certification for visual art in the Michigan public schools at the primary and secondary levels. Fully accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD).

The program emphasizes the training of committed artists who desire to work in the field of teaching after their graduation. Students also are introduced to the importance of the visual as a tool for participatory learning across the precollege curriculum and in community settings. Art education students:

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of high school and other education completed
- Applicants should have completed four years of english, three years of science, social science, mathematics and two years of foreign language
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
