It involves development of instrumentation, observations of celestial objects with ground- and space-based telescopes, and interpretation of findings using the mathematical laws of physics such as gravity, electromagnetism and quantum mechanics. The undergraduate major provides a strong and broad foundation in mathematics, physical science and computation as well as a detailed understanding of modern astronomy. Many research opportunities are available to complement the formal classwork. Graduates proceed to advanced degrees in astronomy and other sciences, and into a wide variety of technical professions.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of secondary school and previous education
- Secondary school records should contain the list of subjects studied each year and the grades earned in each
- The official transcripts should be in original language followed by a copy with line by line English translation
- Submitting ACT/SAT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 80 in iBT; minimum 550 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5
- ACT: minimum score of 24 in English
