Geographic Information Science (GIScience) combines cutting-edge technology and geographic theory. GIScience covers many areas of study, including geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, global positioning systems (GPS), cartography and visualization, and geospatial analysis and statistics. The Master of Science in Geographic Information Science (MSGIS) is designed for both employed professionals and full-time students who want to deepen their understanding and expertise in the application of geographic information to social and environmental problems.
Learning Outcomes:
- demonstrate geographic information science knowledge and technical skills described in the MSGIS skills list
- ability to think spatially and conduct basic spatial analysis
- ability to critically understand knowledge communicated in oral, written, graphic and cartographic forms
- ability to solve applied geographic problems
- ability to present and defend work in oral, written, graphic and cartographic formats
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university or from an institution recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education in their home country with at least a 3.0 or higher undergraduate weighted mean GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE scores.
