The intellectual mission of the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures combines the study of foreign languages, literatures and cultures within specific national traditions with the investigation of literary and cultural theory and practice across national and disciplinary boundaries
Here at Rochester, our students immerse themselves in the German language and culture through coursework, film screenings, literature, Plauderstunden, study abroad, and more. Our program prepares students for careers that stress critical thinking and cross-cultural communication.
