The Graduate School of Education?s research focuses on the challenges of serving a diverse student population, and you will learn to evaluate this educational research and then apply best practices in the field. The program gives you extensive teaching experience in an assigned school in a partnering school district.
By the time you complete your graduate degree with a teaching emphasis, you will have earned your credential to teach in California, a designation that is widely accepted in other states and gives you access to excellent career options.
Highlights of the General Education with Teaching Emphasis MEd Program
- Take up to two graduate level courses (200 level) and two upper division courses (100 level) during the summer before admission to the program. You?ll take upper division, professional and graduate level courses during the fall, winter, and spring quarters to meet California teaching licensure requirements.
- Earn your master?s degree in 12 months. Begin in the summer and end in spring the next year.
- May complete up to 3 upper division requirements as an undergraduate if you wish, but these credits cannot be applied toward the graduate degree if they were used to fulfill undergraduate program requirements.
- Study with exceptional faculty who are excellent classroom teachers and are also renowned in their field.
- Learn about educational issues such as equity and diversity by studying current research in a highly diverse inland Southern California school district.
- Graduate from an MEd program that has a strong track record for graduate placement in area schools.
