The College of Science and Mathematics offers Master's of Science degrees in three disciplines within the Natural Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, and Biochemistry.?Students completing any of these?degrees will develop advanced skills in the general discipline of choice and will apply these skills in the completion of a thesis research project or internship.
Graduates from the program will be able to apply the techniques of scientific research to real-world biological problems.?Course work may include several important areas relevant to biology, including biotechnology, bio-fuels, statistics, environmental, molecular, and cellular biology.?
A unique feature of the program is its 3+2 plan which is described elsewhere in this catalog. The 3+2 plan allows a student to simultaneously receive a BS and an MS degree in five years. The Master of Science in Biology requires 30 or 32 semester credit hours of approved graduate course work for, respectively, the thesis (30) or the non-thesis option (32).
