- The Brown University offers B.Sc in Environmental Engineering program for a duration of 4 years.
- It is an on-campus and Full-time course.
- The School of Engineering introduced a new concentration in environmental engineering in 2013, in response to both the growing importance of the field and student interest.
- The curriculum is based on the “standard” engineering core curriculum, but also includes key pre-requisites in biology and environmental science, and geological sciences. The concentration currently defines two options. The first focuses on energy and power, while the second focuses on chemical and biological technology.
- The Environmental Engineering Sc.B. is not accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, and at present, there are no plans to seek ABET accreditation for this program.
- An accredited engineering degree is not necessary for a successful career in environmental sciences: many enter the field with degrees in biology, chemistry, physics, environmental sciences, in addition to engineering. Nevertheless, some environmental engineering occupations (such as government positions concerned with environmental regulation) require professional registration, which is most easily achieved through an accredited engineering degree.
- At Brown, the Sc.B. degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering is the best starting point for these careers.
- Job opportunities after the B.Sc in Environmental Engineering, and the average salary goes up to 65,114USD
