The seminars and residencies are integrated to help those who need to hone their writing and critical thinking in order to participate competitively in the wider domain of contemporary American letters. In a two-year course of study, the student earns 60 credit hours toward a Masters of Fine Arts degree in one of four genres: fiction, poetry, playwriting, or nonfiction.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Requirements:

  • Applicant must have completed a bachelors degree or masters degree from an accredited university
  • Submit official transcripts of all previous educational institution attended
  • Official transcripts must be evaluated course by course from WES, ECE or Educational Perspectives
  • Submit a writing sample representing your best work in the track for which you are applying: 15 pages of poetry; 15-20 pages of playwriting; 30 pages of screenwriting; 30-40 pages of fiction
  • Submit a statement of purpose in one- to two-page single-spaced self-assessment of your background in writing, reasons for wanting to enter the MFA program, and your goals as a writer.
  • Submit two letter of recommendation from persons who can attest to your ability to complete a course of graduate study, the ability to work independently, and/or the quality of your prior literary achievements.
  • Submit English Language Proficiency test scores

English Language Requirements:

  • TOEFL: minimum 80 in iBT; 550 in PBT
  • IELTS; minimum 6.5
  • PTE: minimum 53
  • Duolingo: minimum 105
