The goal of the Biology Department is to provide students with individualized, broad training in biology leading to a Master of Science (M.S.) degree. Original research is an integral part of both the thesis and non-thesis degree options. Faculty areas of expertise include ecology, physiology, genetics, molecular biology, taxonomy, behavior, and developmental biology of a wide variety of organisms. The M.S. degree prepares students for employment in industry, private or government agencies, and academics, as well as further education in professional programs, such as the Ph.D. or M.D.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Requirements:

  • Applicant must have completed a bachelors degree or masters degree from an accredited university
  • Submit official transcripts of all previous educational institution attended
  • Official transcripts must be evaluated course by course from WES, ECE or Educational Perspectives
  • Applicant’s undergraduate biology course GPA must be 3.0 on a scale of 4.0
  • Submit three letter of recommendation
  • Submit GRE scores with a combined score (verbal + quantitative) of 297 and a minimum writing score of 3.5.
  • Submit a resume outlining educational background, employment history, research experience
  • Submit a statement of purpose
  • Submit English Language Proficiency test scores

English Language Requirements:

  • TOEFL: minimum 95 in iBT; 588 in PBT
  • IELTS; minimum 7.5
  • PTE: minimum 76
