Leaders need to be able to read critically, think analytically and communicate effectively. Scholarly understanding of the theory and history of leadership is required as well as the conceptual skills of team building, collaboration, innovation, conflict resolution, communication and problem solving. In addition to appropriate coursework and field experience, components are also required.

This degree prepares students to take positions in social agencies of various types, governmental entities and a wide range of private, non-profit groups.
