Central Connecticut State University Campus

The Central Connecticut State University campus is located in the neighbourhood on the northern edge of New Britain, just minutes away from the state capital and two hours from New York and Boston. The university has a vast campus of 165-acre land and houses 40 buildings featuring state-of-the-art technologies, vast study places, and spaces to hang out and enjoy. Students compete in various sports through the 16 NCAA Division I sports programs.

  • Dining – The university has four dining halls at the Cav in Memorial Hall, the new Hilltop Café Starbucks and the Devil’s Den. You get to choose various options all nutritional and healthy.
  • Library – The Elihu Burritt Library consists of more than 750,000 volumes. The facilities are available for both individual and group studies.
  • The C.J. Huang Recreation Center houses various facilities including fitness classes, recording classes, cardio rooms, multipurpose rooms with AR, suspended tracks, intramural league courts and much more.

Central Connecticut State University Accommodations

Through the ten residence halls, Central Connecticut State University accommodates over 23% of its students. On-campus housing is available for full-time undergraduate and graduate degree students only. Students can apply for on-campus housing using the Web Central portal along with and need to pay a deposit of USD 250. The deadline for applying for housing is May 1st. Although you can apply after the deadline and will be based on availability.

CCSU campus consists of ten residence halls out of which the below six residence halls are available for Fall.

  • Mildred Barrows Hall – The Mildred Barrows Hall is a six-storey quad style building that accommodates 226 residents with three rooms and a common bathroom. The building includes a common lounge, a vast study and a hang out space, a pool table, and a 24-hour computer lab. The laundry room includes three washers and dryers.
  • F. Don James Hall – This is the largest co-ed residence hall that offers suite-style living and consists of three or four bedrooms with a common bedroom and bathroom. Each room includes furnished tables and a sofa. The building houses 415 residents and also consists of air conditioning, study lounge, recreation lounge and laundry facilities.
  • Mid-Campus Hall – The hall is designed to offer three styles of living and includes plenty of space on each floor to hang out and study. The building includes a kitchenette, activity/game room, group study room and much more.
  • Robert Sheridan Hall –It is a co-ed quad style building with three rooms sharing a bathroom. The building homes 224 residents and consists of a lounge, game room, computer lab, and air conditioning.
  • Robert Vance Hall – A co-ed quad-style hall with five rooms sharing a common bathroom. Other amenities include a lounge, kitchens, laundry and computer lab.
  • Thomas Gallaudet Hall – This hall is similar to the Mildred Barrows Hall with plenty of amenities such as a lounge area, game room, computer lab, laundry room, and kitchen.

Central Connecticut State University consists of four academic schools: the School of Business, the School of Engineering, Science, & Technology, the School of Graduate Studies, the School of Education & Professional Studies and a College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and offers a wide range of programs at undergraduate, masters and doctoral levels.

Work-Study

International students with F-1 and J-1 visa permits are eligible to work on-campus for 20 hours per week during school sessions and 40 per week during vacations and holidays. Students applying for work-study must submit a work authorization letter from the Center for International Education.

For off-campus jobs, students will require work authorization and can take it after the completion of the first academic year. You can work off-campus by applying for CPT, OPT academic training or economic hardship.
