The flexibility of the program allows students to choose courses which suit their needs, goals, and interests. Specific courses are chosen by students with the advice and approval of their advisors and the Director of Creative Writing. Senior creative writing majors are required to enroll in the one-credit Senior Portfolio Workshop during the Fall Semester of their final year. This is an excellent area of study for those interested in double-majoring. English majors have their own lounge, the Holm & Dacey Lounge, which houses a lending library of books and literary magazines.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicants must provide proof of high school or secondary education to be considered for admission into the university
- Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 or equivalent on a scale of 4.0 for admissions consideration
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by an evaluation agency like WES, ECE or SpanTran
- Personal letter should be submitted highlighting your goals and why you should be selected
- Submitting SAT/ACT score is optional
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 61 in iBT; 500 in PBT; 173 in CBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 5.5
- Duolingo: minimum score of 95
- PTE: minimum score of 47
- SAT: minimum score of 540 in evidence based reading and writing
- ACT: minimum 21 in English
