US Student Visa Application Process

One who seeks admission at Texas Tech needs a US student visa. For visa application, the applicant is required to have I-20 "Certificate of Eligibility," issued by the admitting institution.

• International Applicants will be provided an I-20 form by the Texas Tech University. Applicants can proceed for the Visa Application process after receiving the I-20 form.
• The applicant needs to pay the SEVIS fee before applying for a student visa.
• Students need to apply at their local US embassy as early as possible.
• Following documents are required while applying for a visa:
  • Valid Passport
  • Financial support document
  • Proof of Health Insurance/Verification Form
  • I-20 form
  • Receipt of Fee Payment
• After the submission of the completed I-20 form and payment of SEVIS fee, schedule and attend the visa interview with the nearest US embassy.

Applicants applying for postgraduate degrees are required to have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution. For most of the courses, general admission such as Letter of Recommendation, Statement of Purpose, Resume, Writing Sample is similar.
