The Computer Science course curriculum offers several electives to explore the diverse applications of the subject. Certain courses such as Physics are currently mandatory for degree progression. This is perhaps unnecessary for students seeking careers in tech. Introductory computer science courses provide students with a solid foundation in programming principles. Later courses and electives allow students the opportunity to learn multiple new languages and work on projects that simulate certain industry requirements. The CS curriculum is heavily based on fundamentals, meaning most of our curriculum is based on learning to use technologies from the 60s and 70s. Contrary to popular belief this is actually a good thing and everyone I know has been able to easily pick up the latest technologies in a matter of days (the new tech is based on the old tech). This curriculum heavily influenced my college decision.
