UCLA is the number 1 public university in the United States. It has a beautiful campus with an extremely diverse faculty and student body. The university's location in California is a great bonus for students like me hoping to start a career in tech due to its proximity to the Bay Area and Silicon Valley. The university has a vast, well-connected alumni network and provides tremendous opportunities to learn and grow via clubs, events, and career growth opportunities. The campus community is also as incredibly warm and welcoming as the weather in Los Angeles. I could not recommend UCLA highly enough.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at the University of California Los Angeles is a 4 years program.
- It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
- The computer science curriculum is consists of major components in computer science, a minor or technical support area, and a core of courses from the social sciences, life sciences, and humanities.
- Within the curriculum, students study subject matter in software engineering, principles of programming languages, data structures, computer architecture, the theory of computation and formal languages, operating systems, distributed systems, computer modeling, computer networks, compiler construction, and artificial intelligence.
- Students also study all aspects of computer systems from electronic design through logic design, MSI, LSI, and VLSI concepts.
- The computer science program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.
- Students have to complete a capstone major in the last year.
- The department has 31 research labs and centers to provides various facilities to the students.
- UCLA provides education at the undergraduate and graduate levels necessary to understand, design, implement, and use the software and hardware of digital computers and digital systems.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must either be in the final year of secondary school or have already completed secondary school studies to get admission in this program.
- Students must have a background in basic math, physics, and geology and advanced coursework specialized in geophysics.
- A GPA of 3.4 (B+ grade) out of 4.0 is required in the last two years of the studies.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Students are expected to complete Year X and Year XII state board exams.
- The competitive students typically achieve high marks, primarily A1 and A2 grades or scores above 80.
- students must complete both year X and XII state board or CBSE examinations, with average marks above 70 and no mark below 60.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
