Bachelor of Science in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics at the University of California Los Angeles is a 4-year program.
It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
Microbiology at UCLA is a diverse science that includes bacteriology, virology, immunology, genetics, molecular biology, and the study of single cells.
This degree program offers 2 options by which undergraduates can obtain a Bachelor of Science degree. These options are known as Path 1 and Path 2.
- Path 1: team-oriented inquiry-based laboratory experience

Students have to complete the core courses that are Chemistry and Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Statistics or Mathematics, and Physics.
Each core curriculum course must be passed with a grade of C- or better, and all courses must be completed with an overall grade-point average of 2.0 or better.
Students receiving a grade of D or lower in two core curriculum courses, either in separate courses or repetitions of the same course, are subject to dismissal from the major.
Students get the opportunity to study with internationally recognized faculty whose research funding, in total, is among the highest in the nation.
All the students carry out primary research, either by working in a faculty member’s laboratory or through collaborative research projects in laboratory courses.
Undergraduate students majoring in Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics prepare for careers in biomedical research, medicine, dentistry, or other health professions, etc.
The Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics (MIMG) is ranked among the top 10 microbiology departments in the country.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

Students must either be in the final year of secondary school or have already completed secondary school studies to get admission in this program.
Students must have a background in basic math, physics, and geology and advanced coursework specialized in geophysics.
A GPA of 3.4 (B+ grade) out of 4.0 is required in the last two years of the studies.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

Students are expected to complete Year X and Year XII state board exams.
The competitive students typically achieve high marks, primarily A1 and A2 grades or scores above 80.
students must complete both year X and XII state board or CBSE examinations, with average marks above 70 and no mark below 60.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
