This is an existing program but is not accepting new students at this time due to changes in the degree.

All candidates will be exposed to the legal and social tenets of delivering services in special instructional settings. Candidates will learn to deliver and interpret assessment data for the purposes of eligibility determination. The program also includes developing competencies in instructional design and program evaluation. Special education continues to be reported by the state department of education as a shortage area for teachers. Additionally, private school personnel as well as international candidates may require preparation to meet exceptional students? needs; they may access the program of study but do not require nor desire licensure in the state.

Academic Requirements:

  • Applicant must have completed bachelors degree from an accredited university
  • Submit official transcripts from the institution where you completed your first bachelors degree
  • Submit current resume
  • Submit three letters of recommendation
  • Submit a written statement of purpose with past experience relevant to masters and career objectives
  • Applicants should show evidence of meeting at least one criteria in each of the following skill areas:
  • Writing: (a) 3.0 cumulative GPA overall or last 60 hours, (b) passing ACT/SAT/GRE/Praxis Core scores in Writing, or (c) Accuplacer Next Generation Score of 251.
  • Math: (a) Writing: (a) 3.0 cumulative GPA overall or last 60 hours, (b) passing ACT/SAT/GRE/Praxis Core scores in Math, or (c) Accuplacer Next Generation Score of 251.
  • Reading: (a) 3.0 cumulative GPA overall or last 60 hours, (b) passing ACT/SAT/GRE/Praxis Core scores in Reading, or (c) Accuplacer Next Generation Score of 251.
  • Submit a pre-recorded interview
  • Submit English language proficiency test scores

English Language Requirements:

  • TOEFL: minimum 79 in iBT; 550 in PBT; 
  • IELTS: minimum 6.5
  • PTE: minimum 58
