Students new to NMSU or those still working on their General Education and department pre-requisites are considered Pre-Public Health students. Students must apply to the Bachelor program in order to take the 400 level program courses.
Professional Objectives:
Pursue a career working in community and public health programs and education in voluntary, private and governmental agencies.
- Successfully participate in the professional certification examination process.
- Encourage and promote public health education within the framework of legal, ethical, moral and professional standards.
- Provide leadership within the public health profession.
- Collaborate with other professionals, staff, communities and consumers in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health education programs.
- Conduct and incorporate research findings in health education into practice settings.
- Establish and maintain a personal commitment to intellectual inquiry, self-directed learning, and professional growth.
Academic Program Objectives:

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of all previous education with English translation if not in English
- Official transcripts must be evaluated by a NACES approved agency
- Students should have a minimum GPA of 2.75 or equivalent on a scale of 4.0
- Submit English Language Proficiency scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 520 in PBT; 68 in iBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.0
- Duolingo: minimum score of 95
