₹20.6 L/Yr
Our goal is to prepare our graduates to achieve professional engineering licensure and become future leaders as public employees and private consultants in the various civil engineering fields.
Due to contributions from our civil engineering alumni, we are able to offer a substantial number of scholarships to deserving undergraduate and graduate students. Scholarships are open to entering freshmen, continuing students during their sophomore through senior years, and graduate students. Paid internships are also available for students to gain practical work experience. Our department has partnered with industry and other universities to offer numerous research, internship, and co-op education opportunities in civil engineering. Student development is enhanced through initiatives supported by the following programs within civil engineering at NMSU:
- Re-Inventing the Nation’s Urban Water Infrastructure (ReNUWIt)
- Center for Bio-mediated and Bio-inspired Geotechnics (CBBG)
- Alliance for Minority Participation (AMP)
- Bridge Inspection Program (BIP)
Through these programs and other research grants, our students can work closely with the faculty on contemporary issues including, but not limited to, ground stabilization, high performance materials, intelligent transportation systems, remote sensing, renewable energy, resilient infrastructure, structural health monitoring, sustainable construction, traffic modeling and simulation, and water treatment and reuse. The Civil Engineering Department was recently featured in NMSU’s Salon Discovery (Enchantment of the Mind) event at NMSU’s Atkinson Recital Hall.
