International Students Admissions

University of North Carolina accepts international applicants with the assurance that they have completed their secondary education with all the certificates, degrees or diplomas in original copy of issue to be sent directly to Undergraduate admissions. The university also requires certified copies of all past secondary records. Submit official transcripts from each post secondary institution previously attended. Submit the application through UNCG Spartanlink or Common Application.

The admission process is the same for both International and domestic applicants. However, international applicants need to meet some additional requirements.

How to apply?

Application Portal: Applicants may apply online at the university’s official website. You can submit through the Common application or by submitting the application at Spartanlink.

Application fee: 65 USD (Non-refundable).

Basic Academic Requirements:

  • International applicants must require a minimum GPA of 2.5. A CGPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is preferable for some courses. 
  • Students are highly recommended to submit their ACT/SAT scores. 
  • Official transcripts from previously attended high school/college, translated in English.
  • Official English language proficiency score report like TOEFL, IELTS, etc.
  • Copy of valid Passport & Visa.
  • Official financial statements verifying adequate funds to cover a student’s expenses for a minimum of one year of academic study.

Visa Process for International Students

International applicants can apply for a student visa to study in the USA right after an application letter is issued. Students whose applications have been approved will be issued the I-20 Form. The I-20 form can be obtained via FedEx, once the admissions process is completed.

Students have the submit the following while applying for the visa:

  1. Valid Passport
  2. Visa
  3. Proof of Health Insurance/Verification Form
  4. I-94
  5. Current United States Address and Phone Number
  6. Original I-20
  7. Receipt of 200 USD for I-901 Fee Payment

After the submission of the complete I-20 form, students can schedule an interview with the nearest US embassy.

University of North Carolina Undergraduate admissions

Application Portal: The applications for undergraduate admissions can be submitted through Common Application or UNCG Spartanlink.

Application fee: 65 USD (Non-refundable).

The documents required for Doctorate courses are Statement of purpose and Research statements. Three letters of recommendation from professors or previous employers are required for the graduate programs.

For admission at the University of North Carolina, students need to focus on their GPAs as well as their specific test scores required by the University. Also, all the applicants will be notified by email from the graduate school once admission decision is available to view online. If the student fails to register themselves in the specific time period after the admission decision is out, the admission may be subject to cancellation. Overview

I got into the honors college who provided me with a few scholarships. Other than there was really no other reason. I plan to go to school I actually want for graduate school no matter the cost.
