An experienced faculty offering various, unique perspectives in the disciplines of music theory and composition guides the music theory area. The curriculum focuses on the comprehensive development of strong skills in music theory and musicianship, counterpoint, techniques of contemporary music, and form and analysis. Advanced courses are offered in special music theory topics, advanced form and analysis, and advanced techniques of contemporary music. Independent study projects offered in such diverse areas as advanced orchestration, film music, text and music, women in music, and advanced music technology help foster an environment of active research and inquiry.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent
- Official transcripts from grade 9 to 12 will be required if admission is provided
- Must have completed 15 units of A-G course which include 1 year of history and social science, 4 years of English, 4 years of Maths, 2 years of laboratory science, 2 years of language other than English, 1 year of visual and performing arts
- Submit English Language Proficiency scores
- Candidate must have earned a grade of minimum C- in previous coursework
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 61 in iBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 5.5
- PTE Academic: minimum score of 43
