- The MPH program is designed to enable students to excel in their chosen careers in the medical profession as both participants and leaders in the field.
- The program provides graduates the knowledge and skills necessary to develop broad-based and collaborative strategies to contribute to successfully resolving public health challenges.
- The Master of Public Health program has two concentrations:
- Health Administration
- Health Education
- The MPH program at UM-Flint can be completed either on a part-time or full-time basis.
- The program has rolling admissions and reviews completed applications each month, admitting students in our fall, winter, and spring semesters.
- Individualized degree completion plans are developed for each student.
- A number of MPH courses are offered online. These online courses are offered through high-quality course management systems and are taught by the same expert faculty who teach on-campus courses.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must hold a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with sufficient preparation in algebra to succeed in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
- A minimum overall undergraduate grade point average of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale is required.
- Completion of BIO 104 or an equivalent course in anatomy and physiology is required which may be taken at any regionally accredited college or university.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year bachelors degree from a recognized institution
- Or, completed a 3-year UG degree from an accredited institution
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
Required Document List
The required document for the program are:
- Completion of online application.
- Submission of Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Three letters of recommendation that describe past academic performance and/or student’s potential for successfully completing the MPH program. At least one letter must be an academic reference.
- Statement of Purpose should be a typewritten document of 500 words or less that includes an understanding of and interest in public health, How students anticipate a Master of Public Health degree will help students in future professional settings, Why students want to attend UM-Flint, etc.
- After acceptance of an application, students have to take participate in an interview.
