University of Alaska Fairbanks International Student Admissions

The general admission guidelines for international students are the same as domestic students. However, there are some additional requirements which they have to fulfill to secure admission.

Pre-Admission Checklist for International Students

  • International students can apply for admission through the university’s online portal.
  • International students applying for undergraduate programs should have a competitive ACT/SAT score.
  • International students enrolling for graduate programs must submit the GRE score.
  • International students have to submit proof of English proficiency.
  • Providing a copy of the passport is a must for International students.

English Language Proficiency Test Score for International Students

To obtain admission, international students have to demonstrate proficiency in the Engish language by submitting one of the following test scores:

Visa Details for International Students

  • After the university offers admission, international students have to provide particular documents for the visa process. The students have to submit the Financial Statement, Evidence of Funding and Citizenship Document to be issued the visa.
  • The students also have to pay the SEVIS fee
  • Schedule and attend a visa interview.

Post-Admission Checklist for International Students

  • Contact the academic advisor listed on the letter and complete the course registration process.
  • Apply for UAF campus housing.
  • Set up a UAF electronic student account. This student account will provide access  to official UAF email and other web-based student services
  • Apply for Meal plan through UAOnline.
  • On arrival the students must visit the Bursar’s office to collect the PolarExpress card. This will be the official UAF student identification card.
  • On arrival, international students have to visit the office of International Programs and Initiatives. Students must carry with them their passport, I-94 arrival record I-20/ DS-2019, residential information.
  • Payment of tuition and fees with 2 weeks of arrival.
  • It is compulsory for the students to attend New Student Orientation.

University of Alaska Fairbanks Undergraduate Admissions

The University offers undergraduate courses in more than 50 subject areas. The overall admission process is the same for all the courses.

Admission Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school diploma with 16-Credit hours.
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • A minimum ACT test score of 18 or SAT test score of 955.
  • English proficiency test score for International students. The minimum accepted score for TOEFL and IELTS is 79 and 6.5 respectively.

Submission of Documents:

  • Academic documents can be submitted using two options. Option I is uploading the documents electronically. Option II is sending them by post. Those who choose option II Should note that the transcripts have to be sent by the institute in a sealed envelope.
  • The ACT/SAT score must be uploaded electronically. The university’s ACT and SAT exam code are 0064 and 4866 respectively.

Transfer/ Readmission Students:

  • Students with more than 30-semester credit have to only submit their prior college transcript.
  • Students with less than 30-semester credit have to additionally submit their high school transcripts and test scores as well.
