- UC Davis biological sciences graduates find they are well prepared to apply to graduate and professional schools in the biological and health sciences and to enter careers in fields such as industrial research and development, field studies and lab work. Potential employers include the private sector and government agencies involved in basic biology, the environment and agriculture.
- Students will begin their studies with foundation courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics. The broad nature of the major allows students to take upper-division coursework in many different aspects of the biological sciences, such as molecular biology and genetics, animal behavior, plant growth and development, bioinformatics, marine biology, forensics, and microbiology. Candidates for the bachelor of arts will also study the history and philosophy of biological science and the diversity of the animal, plant and microbial kingdoms.

Academic Eligibility:
- A high school diploma (or equivalent)
- Students who are not residents of California must earn a GPA of 3.40 or higher.
- SAT/ACT scores
- The University of California Board of Regents unanimously approved the suspension of the standardized test requirement (ACT/SAT) for all California freshman applicants until fall 2024.
- If students’ native language and school language of instruction prior to their study in the United States were not English, then they must demonstrate English proficiency. They can do so by submitting TOELF/IELTS score reports.

- Students must complete their standard XII years of education and sit for 10th and 12th-year board/state examinations.
