Through its interdisciplinary faculty, the undergraduate program advances students' understanding of governance, development, migration, security, economics, and the socio-political dynamics of regions such as Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
The Department of International Studies makes it a core educational mission to provide undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Miami with a firm grounding in the social sciences and the humanities disciplines to foster creative exploration and analysis of politics and policymaking from alternative perspectives.
The Department of International Studies has two core interrelated objectives: to produce original academic research, and to educate students to become twenty-first century leaders in the private and the public sectors.
The undergraduate program exposes students to a wide of range of knowledge and skills. The curriculum is designed to provide students with an understanding of the international system’s past, present and future. The aim is for students to develop the critical-analytical skills necessary for a successful career in international business, diplomacy, policy, and development. Proficiency in a foreign language is required of all majors and study abroad opportunities are readily available to help students gain first-hand experience in cultures and institutions outside the United States.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
- Obtain a score of 650 or higher on the redesigned SAT evidence-based reading and writing section .
- Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores.
- Obtain a score of 27 or higher on the ACT English section.
- Academic Eligibility:
Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission with minimum 3.6 GPA.
