Double majors and minors are encouraged for those who want to make themselves more marketable in careers such as business, international trade, international relations, law, government and social work. The department?s advanced classes offer diversification not found at many universities. Included are courses on contemporary France; French media or Spanish media; Francophone culture, with emphasis on French-speaking Africa and the Caribbean; French civilization or Hispanic culture and civilization, Latin American culture and civilization, and Cervantes and his world. Courses also delve socio-economical and gender issues.
