At SRU you'll have the opportunity to participate in productions both locally and internationally, and will receive a well-rounded education with real-world skills that will help you establish a professional career.
Through the Acting emphasis at SRU you'll first gain a solid foundation in the Stanislavski method, and then progress to advanced courses in acting, voice, and movement. Core upper division acting courses include:
- Acting II (centered around the techniques of Michael Chekhov)
- Voice and Movement
- Acting Shakespeare
Acting majors can also take up to three sections of Acting Technique - a course focusing on specialized topics, such as:
- Auditioning
- Stage Combat
- Devised Theatre
- Meisner technique
- Uta Hagen technique
