One of the worlds best universities. Great location with ethnicity not being the overriding factor in all things Bruin. School and classroom size manageable and equipped. Beautiful architecture and grounds are very conducive to the learning process.

Course Curriculum

10

I found the structure quite in line with the needs of my studies. There was a physical education requirement which I found totally useless, but that is a small price to pay for a Bruin education. I do believe, however, a better mix of local control would be advantageous.

Exams

SAT 1540. Generalized positioning questionnaire and suggestions for non-American, but English speaking Freshmen.

Placement

10

I am unable to speak for all disciplines, the general consensus, however, is that UCLA is in the top twenty universities for job placement in the world. This has induced a great influx of Asian students to the Westwood campus.

Internship

The internship program was in total infancy at my time of matriculation, consequently, I did not have any experience in that area. As the experience and quality of internship have ballooned, I am lacking in thinking of a better method of introduction into the workplace.

Events

10

My discussion of events would not be a blip on the current schedule grid. We did not have ethic days per se, but an occasional celebration did occur. Since an internship was rare, hiring days were a major event. I am very proud of where UCLA now positions itself on the community, national, and international events.

Fees

My total cost was in the $75,000 to $80,000 USD. It is now $40,000 to $50,000 USD higher. Within the current structure of educational costs throughout the US, however, not without precedence.

Scholarship

I qualified for an academic scholarship, but in a true egalitarian move, I demurred due to an extremely lucrative part-time job.

Examination Structure

Unfortunately, I am unable to speak for today's structure, almost fifty years have passed so. During my years of matriculation, everyone knew the exact days of exams, and back up days. Very structured, but those days did not allow much 'wiggle room'.

Faculty

10

One of the major factors in attending UCLA. World class instruction at all levels. As an active alumnus, I continue to monitor our faculty and am delighted in our current staff.

Hostel

10

I was fortunate enough to establish a local residence so none of the above-referenced models was relevant. If I relate any information on the alternatives, I am only relating what is found on www.ucla.edu. I would say, however, that an on-campus experience would be rewarding.
