Since the application process of the College of Engineering is administered by CMU, applicants are asked to adhere to the university’s deadlines. College of Engineering-CMU International Admissions

The applicants must carefully go through the general admission requirements of both undergraduate and graduate programs before applying for the University. Admission Requirements for International Students

International applicants must satisfy the following requirements in order to be eligible for admissions with the Carnegie Institute of Technology

  • All transcripts are to be evaluated by an authorized agency. It should be translated into English if the documents are not in English.

  • Copy of Passport and all identification details filled up in the application forms must be the same as listed on official documents.
  • Interviews are recommended for non-native English speakers

English Language Requirements for International Students

Students whose native language is not English, have to provide their English proficiency test scores. The minimum scores are provided below:

US Visa Process for International students

International applicants must apply well in advance and complete all formalities, to obtain an F-1 student visa, while also submitting all essential documents. The applicants have to submit the following documents complete the Visa Procedure;

  • Valid Passport
  • Visa
  • Proof of Health Insurance/ Verification FORM
  • I-94
  • Current United States Address and Phone Number
  • Original I-20

The following steps are to be followed in order to complete the entire procedure.

  1. Once the admission offer is received, the student has to follow the link to the Student Information Form.
  2. This document must be duly filled to obtain the I-20 or DS certificate from the Office of International Education at Carnegie Mellon.
  3. All the additional and necessary documents with financial records must be sent to OIE directly. Further, the applicant will be notified when the I-20 is ready.
  4. The I-20 documents have to be submitted by the deadline provided stated in the admission letter in order to have sufficient time to be able to schedule a Visa Interview.
  5. Any applicants sponsored by an outside organization, such as Fulbright, must have their documents processed by their sponsor.
  6. Health and Immunization documents are required by all applicants and have to submit as per the deadlines by the University Health Services.

College of Engineering- CMU Undergraduate Admissions

The University provides multidisciplinary courses and the requirements are provided below. You can apply through Common Application form has to be duly filled and submitted with an application fee of 75 USD

Admission Requirements: Applicants must submit the following documents at the time of admission:

  • All Official high school transcripts are authenticated and signed by the concerned authority.
  • English Proficiency test scores have to be submitted if English is not the native language.
  • The Secondary School Counselor Evaluation must be duly submitted
  • 1 Teacher Recommendation is also to be submitted.
  • A common application essay has to be submitted.

Additionally, the College of Engineering has specific academic requirements which have to be completed. You need to have 4 years English; 4 years Mathematics; 1-year Chemistry; 1-year Physics; 1-year Biology; 2 years Foreign Language; 3 electives.

College of Engineering- CMU Graduate Admissions

At the PG level, the college offers several graduate programs like Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering and Public Policy, and Electrical and Computer Engineering- Silicon Valley. To apply, applicants are required to submit an online application form and along with it, submit an application processing fee of 75 USD. Additionally, the English proficiency test scores are discussed above and are the same for both master’s and Ph.D. applicants.
