Politics, economics, policy, and (PEPL), a multidisciplinary major, gives you a foundation in the social sciences that you can use in diverse careers?wherever you want to make your impact. PEPL majors choose from one of four concentrations, each of which offers a distinct focus with different course requirements.
- Politics?Learn to lead by studying political science. Analyze institutions and power in the United States and other countries. With a concentration in politics, you?ll be ready for graduate study in political science, sociology, law, and related disciplines and for careers in a wide range of fields, including education, law, market research, media, and public office.
- Economic Analysis?Gain flexible analytical tools for studying economic phenomena and their relationship to social, political, legal, and policy issues. This concentration can prepare you to earn a bachelor?s-to-master?s?accelerated MBA?or an?accelerated MA in applied economics?at Mills with just one additional year of study beyond your BA. It equips you to work in international economics, finance, government regulation, corporate planning, and related fields.
- Public Policy?Use the methods of economics, political science, and other social sciences to assess public problems and design innovative solutions. This concentration can prepare you to earn a bachelor?s-to-master?s?accelerated degree in public policy?at Mills in just one year of study beyond your BA. It leads to careers in city and regional planning, economic development, public health, nonprofit and public sector management, and policy analysis.
- Legal Institutions and Processes?Examine the role of law in contemporary society and the reasoning behind legal decisions. This concentration offers excellent preparation for law school and a career in law or a law-related field.
