National Sports University (NSU) Imphal Admissions 2024: Courses, Eligibility, Selection Criteria

At the UG level, the institute offers a B.Sc. in Sports Coaching in 8 disciplines and BPES degree in 26 specializations. The following specializations are offered under the discipline of B.Sc. in Sports Coaching-

The specializations offered under the discipline of BPES are- Archery, Athletics, Artistic Gymnastics, Badminton, Basketball, Canoeing, Cricket, Cycling, Diving, Football, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kayaking, Kho-Kho, Lawn Tennis, Powerlifting and Best Physique, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Water Polo, Weightlifting, Wrestling, and Yoga.

NSU Imphal UG Course Eligibility Criteria

• Candidate must have passed Higher Secondary (10+2).
• The minimum age of the candidate shall be above 17 years.
• Candidate must have represented his/her School/District at the Inter-school /district Competition in any one of the Games/Sports.

NSU Imphal UG Course Selection Criteria

• Admission shall be offered based purely on merit, based on the marks obtained in the Admission Test (Written Test, Sports Proficiency Test, and Physical Fitness Test).
• Securing qualifying marks in the Physical Fitness Test is compulsory.
• Candidate must be medically fit and free from physical deformities and must be approved by any Government Medical Officer.
• Candidate has to score at least a 45% score in the Admission test.

Components of Admission Test is given below:

At the PG level, the institute offers an M.Sc. in Sports Coaching with 5 specializations such as-

2. Boxing
3. Badminton
4. Football
5. Weightlifting

Aside from the above-mentioned programs, the institute also offers an M.A. in Sports Psychology for a duration of two years.

NSU Imphal PG Course Eligibility Criteria

M.Sc. in Sports Coaching: Graduate with Diploma-holder in Sports Coaching/B.P.Ed. of 4 years or 2 years duration with 50% Marks. Also participation in Sports at State/District/College Level.

M.A. Sports Psychology: Bachelor’s Degree in B.P.Ed./B.A. (Hons) in Psychology or any Bachelor’s Degree with Psychology/ Sports Psychology as one of the subjects, with minimum 50% marks. Also participation in Sports at State/District/College Level.

NSU Imphal PG Course Selection Criteria

• Admission shall be offered based purely on merit, based on the marks obtained in the Entrance Test (Written Test, Sports Proficiency Test, and Interview).
• Minimum overall 50% marks required to qualify the test.
• The eligibility of candidates to appear in for Counselling will be declared in their respective categories, based on the declarations made by the candidates in their application forms.
• The selected candidates shall be required to undergo a Medical Test to be conducted by the University.
• The final list of selected candidates shall be made based on the basis of the list of medically fit students submitted by a panel of doctors constituted by the University.
