IIT Dharwad MS Admissions are underway, the college is now accepting applications for MS Admissions. The last date to apply for the program is April 26, 2023. The college will release the list of selected candidates on May 03, 2023. IIT Dharwad offers the MS program for a minimum of two years and a maximum of three years from enrollment. A minimum number of course credits and a research thesis are required. The Institute accepts sponsored research and development projects from industry and other public and private sector organizations. IIT Dharwad MS Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for MS admission at IIT Dharwad, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:

  • BE/BTech or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline with first class.
  • Valid GATE Score in the relevant paper.
  • For SC/ST/PwD candidates, the relaxation of 5% (0.5 on the scale of 10 in case of CGPA/CPI) is admissible

IIT Dharwad MS Course Details

  • All students of the MS program are normally required to complete the prescribed 34 credits within the first two semesters from the date of joining, by completing the coursework prescribed by the faculty advisor.
  • The details of research topics/areas proposed by various faculty members will be made available to the students. The students are encouraged to discuss those topics/areas with the respective faculty members.
  • The allocation of an advisor(s) to the students will be finalized at the end of one semester from the date of joining.
  • The thesis shall be submitted within one month from the date of the successful synopsis seminar.

Ques.What is the grading system followed by the IIT Dharwad MS program?

Ans.IIT Dharwad follows a 10-point scale grade system for every course taken by the student, he/she is assigned a grade based on his/her combined performance in all the assessments.

Ques.Can IIT Dharwad cancel one’s admission to the MS Research program?

Ans.Yes, IIT Dharwad can cancel one’s admission to the MS Research program on the basis of below:

  • The registration of a student whose progress is not found to be satisfactory by the RPC or who has not enrolled is liable to be canceled.
  • The registration of a student who has not submitted his/ her thesis before the end of three years from the date of joining is liable to be canceled.

Ques.Can a research scholar take leaves during the MS program at IIT Dharwad?

Ans.A student may be permitted by the Dean (AP) to withdraw from the program for a semester or longer for health reasons or any other valid grounds if duly recommended by the RPC. 

Ques.Which Candidates will be permitted to participate in the Selection Process of the Institute?

Ans.Based on the information provided by the applicants, a list of eligible candidates called for the selection process will be declared on the Institute website on the date specified in the schedule. Only eligible candidates are permitted to participate in the selection process. 

Ques.Can the Person Working in Colleges or Universities be allowed to take admission under MS Program at IIT Dharwad?

Ans.No, The option of external registration is for applicants who are working in well-equipped scientific institutions, laboratories, R&D establishments, and industrial organizations engaged in research-based activities. Persons working in colleges/universities are NOT eligible under this category.

Ques.Does IIT Dharwad Provide any Financial Help to Students admitted Through Teaching Assistantship?

Ans.Yes, The assistantship is payable for a maximum duration of two and half years or till the date of defense whichever is earlier. At present, the monthly rate of assistantship is ₹12400. To get the Teaching Assistantship stipend, the students concerned must assist in teaching, research, and/or administrative work as assigned by the respective Academic Unit to the extent of 8 hours of work per week.
