- The candidates should have pursued an M.Sc. / MCA / M.Phil. / M.Tech. Degree or equivalent qualification from any recognized University in respective subjects with a minimum aggregate of 55%.
- The seats will be filled through the entrance test and the performance of the candidates in a personal interview.
Doon University PhD: Application Process
- Visit the official website of the university and click on the ‘Apply Online’ option in the Admission section to fill the application form.
- Complete the registration process by filling in your personal details such as name, contact number, Email Id, etc.

- The admission in the Ph.D. program is based both on the merit and the marks obtained in the entrance examination followed by a personal interview.
- The candidates may be excluded from appearing in the entrance examination if they satisfy any one of the below-mentioned criterion:
- Qualified JRF examination conducted by UGC/CSIR/ICMR/ DBT
- INSPIRE fellowship awarded by DST
- Having 2 years of research experience
- M.Phil. / M. Tech. degree in the relevant subjects with one publication in the refereed journal.
Doon University PhD: Course Details
- The Ph.D. course includes extensive Course Work, Seminars, and Theme papers of 20 credits of two semesters.
- This is followed by thesis work for Ph.D. on an approved topic for a minimum of two years (four semesters) of 40 credits.
- Approval and successful defense of the thesis are required for the successful accomplishment of a Ph.D. degree.
- The University follows a continuous evaluation system consisting of periodic internal sessionals, mid-term, and end semester examinations. The distribution of marks for such courses shall be decided by the Course Instructor with the approval of the HOD of the respective School. To pass in a subject, all the exams (Mid or Make-up, End, Practical, Viva-Voce as applicable) are mandatory.

Ans. If a student fails in any of the courses with F and G Grades, such courses have to be repeated by undergoing all examinations (Mid or Make-up, End, Practical, Viva-voce as applicable) in the following Semester or whenever the course is offered. For clearing the back paper in a course the registration must be done at the beginning of the semester. The students may attend the classes and shall appear in all the examinations. To pass in a subject, all the examinations (Mid or Make-up, End, Practical, Viva-voce as applicable) are compulsory to be given. New assessment marks (maximum 20 as applicable) should be provided by the faculty for awarding the grade in a subject.

Ques. What is the alternative if anyone misses his/her mid-semester examination at Doon University?
Ans. Students missing the Mid-Term Examination of any course due to the reasons like serious illness (to be certified by an authorized Medical Practitioner), the demise of a parent, one’s own marriage, or any other reason considered valid by the competent authority may be permitted for a Make-up Examination. It usually commenced after one month of the mid-semester exam. Such an examination shall cover the course of the subjects completed up to the Mid-Term Examination.
