Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU) is a state university which specializes in teachers' education. TNTEU is a unique university of this kind, for it is the first and only University in India, which is solely established for promoting excellence in teachers education. It has more than 700 affiliated colleges which consist of Government/ Government-Aided/ Self-Financing Colleges of Education.
The university offers the following 4 program in most of its affiliated colleges:

B.Ed programme is offered under various optional subjects and candidates seeking admission must fulfill the relevant eligibility criteria i.e. 10+2 HSC Examination/ Graduate Degree/ Postgraduate Degree. Interested candidates can apply for admissions by submitting duly filled-in applications, along with necessary enclosures and the processing fee. Final selection for admission to B.Ed. program will be done on the basis of candidate’s performance in the qualifying degree examination.

Eligibility:
- For Subjects 1-10: Candidate should have passed the 10+2 qualifying examination conducted by the respective State Board or CBSE or any other recognized board of Education / Examination
- For Subjects 1-10: Candidates who have passed UG Degree Examination of the UGC recognized Universities in any of the subjects offered by the Directorate of School Education at the Secondary/ Higher Secondary Education level are eligible for admission
- For Subjects 1-10: Candidates should have scored the following minimum aggregate of marks in order to be eligible for admission to B.Ed. programme:

If the candidate possesses UG as well as PG degree in the same subject, the marks obtained in the UG Degree alone shall be considered for eligibility criteria.
- For Subjects 11-19: Candidates who possess the Post-Graduate degree in Home Science/ Economics/ Commerce/ Political Science/ Commerce/ Sociology/ Psychology/ Logic/ Indian Culture/ Philosophy with at least 50% marks are eligible for admission. In this case, the major subject in the UG and PG Degrees shall be one and the same
- For Subjects 1-19: Candidates with PG degree (5-year integrated course) under 10+2+5 or 11+1+5 pattern of study shall also be considered for admission
Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University B.Ed. Reservation Criteria
Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to BC, MBC/ DNC, SC and ST communities as per the following rules laid out by the Government of Tamil Nadu:
- Among the 18% seats reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates, 3% of the seats are offered to Arunthathiyars
- 1% of the total seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST)
- 20% of the total seats are reserved for candidates belonging to MBC and DNC category/community
- Among the 30% seats reserved for candidates belonging to BC, 3.5% of the seats are earmarked for Muslim candidates
- Rest of the 31% seats belong to general category candidates for Open Competition (OC)
- 1 seat in each College of Education for the Wards of Ex-Serviceman of Tamil Nadu origin
- 3% of the seats will be reserved for Differently-Abled students (Physically and visually challenged) in each College of Education
Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University B.Ed. Admission Process
Selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying UG/PG Degree examination.
Candidates will be intimated for counselling on the basis of their rank. Allotment of college and course available at the time of counselling will be done based on the rank and communal reservations.
Note: Candidate should produce all the original certificates at the time of counselling for verification and admission.
Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University B.Ed. Application Process
Candidates should submit duly filled-in applications along with the application fee of Rs. 300/- in person or through post. In case of SC/ST candidates, the fee to be submitted will be Rs. 175/- and the applicant must also produce the attested copy of Community certificate.
The application fee should be paid either in cash or through demand draft (DD) drawn in favour of “The Secretary, Tamil Nadu B.Ed. Admission” and payable at Chennai.
