There is a separate room for the first-year graduates and integrated dual degree Mtech and MBA students. The hostel for first-year students is BH-2 (NILGIRI HOSTEL). The process for applying for the hostel is simple. When you visit the college for final verification after you complete all your formalities you get a hostel registration form.
After you got the form, you have to visit BH-2 and simply ask the warden for room registration. The warden will guide you to all the rooms and the best part is you have full freedom to select the room of your choice. You just have to take a look at all the available rooms and get them registered.
Coming to the occupancy of the room, rooms are available for single as well as double occupancy depending on your comfort, though most of the Btech students go for single occupancy. The lobby could be peaceful or loud depending on the students of the nearby rooms.
The Hostel facilities are very good in IIITM Gwalior. The hostels are taken care of and hygienically maintained as well. The corridor area, mess, and bathroom areas are cleaned by the staff on a daily basis.
Academics are not as per standard but they are expected to be improved because the institute has recruited new faculties. One good thing about IIITM Gwalior is that all the faculties in the institute are PHDs from reputed universities. All other facilities like cricket ground, football ground, sports complex, badminton court, swimming pool are available. Also, there is a gym in the sports complex but it is in bad condition. Thus, one can say that the hostel and other facilities are good at IIITM Gwalior.
IIITM Gwalior is an autonomous Institute of National importance. It was built and developed in an area of about 160 acres.
Here is the weekly menu of the hostel BH-2(Fresher's hostel) of the IIITM Gwalior -

ABV IIITM has three boys’ hostels and one girls’ hostel. In the first year, you will get accommodation based on your batch. You will either have a flat mate or a single occupancy during only the first year of the course you are enrolled in. You are afterwards required to shift to a new hostel where your period of stay will remain for the remaining college years (that is, 3-4 years).
However, in all the aforementioned cases, you are supposed to obtain a chair, a table, an almirah, some of the storage spaces niched on the walls and on top of a cupboard, and 2 sets of 3 spaced shelves. It comes double in number if your room has been designed for places of two.
The good news is, once the final allotment of a permanent room has been completed in the second year, you are free to buy your own personalized furniture items, such as a chair or anything as per your wish.
The rooms of the institutional hostel are of a decent size for single occupancy and are provided with the bare minimum essentials like a single fan, and adequate lighting. But, other non-essential luxuries such as coolers, heaters, ACs, and even better furniture are to be bought with personal expenditure.
Alongside, other crucial gadgets like fridges and washing machines are usually bought as a clubbed expense, by groups of friends having almost nearby room attachments or living door-by-door to one another.
Apparently, as witnessed, hostels here can be counted upon for all the basic amenities required for minimal staying purposes. You are also free to decorate your room as you wish to. That being said, the institute provides basic needs, and if students require more, they can amend as they wish to.
