University of Agricultural Science, Bangalore (UAS) is one of the few universities in India which provides specialized undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degree programmes in multiple branches of agricultural sciences. Currently, the university offers 9 programmes at UG level, 21 programmes at PG level and the research programme i.e. Ph.D. in 34 disciplines.
UAS offers Ph.D. programme in 14 disciplines including agronomy, agricultural economics, crop physiology, plant biotechnology, sericulture, and forestry. Admission to the above mentioned programmes is done on the basis of their performance in qualifying examination, and university entrance test. Check UAS Admission

Ph.D. is offered in the following 14 disciplines:
1. Agricultural Economics – 6 seats
Eligibility:
- Candidates must possess master’s degree in Agricultural Economics
- Candidate should have studied master’s degree with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC candidates and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST candidates

2. Agricultural Entomology – (6 seats)
Eligibility:
- Candidates must possess master’s degree in Agricultural Entomology / Apiculture
- Candidate should have studied master’s degree with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC candidates and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST candidates

3. Agricultural Extension – (6 seats)

8. Genetics & Plant Breeding – (6 seats)

- Candidates must possess master’s degree in Seed Science & Technology / Seed Technology.

12. Sericulture – (2 seats)
Eligibility:
- Candidates must possess master’s degree in Sericulture / Agricultural Entomology with specialization in Sericulture/ M.Sc. in Sericulture.
- Candidate should have studied master’s degree with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC candidates and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST candidates.

13. Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry – (6 seats)
Eligibility:
- Candidates must possess master’s degree in Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry.
- Candidate should have studied master’s degree with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC candidates and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST candidates

14. Forestry & Environmental Science – (4 seats)
Eligibility:
- Candidates must possess master’s degree in Environmental Science, M.Sc.(Forestry) with specialization in the disciplines of Forestry from any SAU.
- Candidate should have studied master’s degree with minimum CGPA of 2.25/4.00 for GC candidates and 2.00/4.00 CGPA for SC/ST candidates.

NRI candidate’s eligibility for Doctoral programmes:
Eligibility: Candidates should possess master’s degree in the concerned subject of Agricultural Sciences/Technology with minimum CGPA of 7.00 out of 10.00 are eligible for admission to doctoral degree. Such candidates shall also enclose certificate of English language proficiency like ELTS/TOFEL.
UAS PhD Admission Process 2023
- Selection of the candidates to the Ph.D. programme will be based on their qualifying examination merit and performance in the entrance test.
- Merit will be determined by assigning weightage of 50% to academic performance, 45% to written entrance examination and remaining 5% for sports / cultural / NSS / higher OGPA / Research publications / ICAR / CSIR / UGC / DBT fellowship
Notes 2023
Scholarship:
Candidates shall be awarded University Resident Merit Scholarship of Rs. 1600/-per month during each academic year. It is mandatory for SC/ST students to apply for Government of India Scholarship.
Hostel:
University provide separate hostels for boys and girls, and international students. Hostel facility shall be provided on first-cum-first serve basis.
How to Apply 2023?
- Candidates can register themselves by filling-in the online application forms available at the official university website and submitting it upon completion, along with the required application fee
- Fee shall be paid through Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of “Comptroller, UAS, Bangalore” and payable at Bangalore. In addition to this, Rs. 300/- should be deposited in cash towards Group Health Insurance, at the time of counselling
Reservation Criteria 2023
- Reservation of seats for candidates belonging to SC/ ST/OBC category will be in accordance with reservation policy stipulated by Government of Karnataka
- If seats reserved for above mentioned categories are not filled due to non-availability candidates, they will be transferred to General Merit category
- Seats shall be reserved in favour of NRI/Children’s of NRI/ NRI sponsored candidates not exceeding 2 students per department
- Seats will be reserved for Teachers/Scientists/Officers of UAS University and for physically challenged candidates
