Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha established in 1962 by the Akhil Bharatiya Sanskrit Sahitya Sammelan. It is a member of Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, approved by the University Grants Commission (UGS) and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). 

Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha offers admission to diverse programmes such as B.A., M.A., B.Ed., M.Ed. & M.Phil. to students through a Regular course. It also offers a PhD programme with 171 seats and almost 19 areas of specializations. Candidates who have qualified their 10+2 exam are eligible to apply for the B.A. course and the institute offers 20 specializations in this programme. For M.A., candidates must have a graduation degree in the relevant field and for M.Phil., a post graduation degree is mandatory.

Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University offers a Bachelor of Arts in various disciplines for the duration of 3-4 years. The minimum eligibility required to seek admission at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University is 10+2 with 40% marks. Admission will be granted on the basis of marks obtained in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). 

SLBSRSV BA Eligibility Criteria

  • For applying to any of the B.A. courses offered by SLBSRSV, candidates must qualify their 10+2 level exam or equivalent exam with Sanskrit/ Uttar Madhyama/ Prak Shastri exam conducted by the State Board/ from any other recognized Board or Institution.
  • Qualifying the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by NTA.
  • Candidates with a minimum age of 16 years.

Course-wise eligibility criteria along with the domain-specific subject that candidates need to choose in the CUET are tabulated below:

B.A Yoga Hindi/English (Any stream) (General Test) Must have passed 10+2 with a minimum of 40% marks from any recognised board or its equivalent The maximum age limit allowed is 25 years.

SLBSRSV BA Selection Criteria

The selection for BA at SLBSRSV will be based on the marks obtained in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET). CUET consists of three sections-

  • Section I – this section is further divided into Section IA and Section IB. candidates will have to select any one language from a set of 13 different languages in Section IA while one language from a set of 20 languages has to be selected from Section IB.
  • Section II – Section II is a domain-specific section wherein candidates will have to select a maximum of 6 domains from a list of 27 domains. Candidates should choose the domains after careful consideration as these will be the deciding factor for the choice of their university.
  • Section III It is a general test where candidates will be tested on the basis of basic general questions such as General Knowledge, Current Affairs, General Mental Ability, Numerical Ability, Quantitative Reasoning, Logical and Analytical Reasoning

Candidates must choose the following subject while appearing for the CUET:

  • For Shastri courses admission, Candidates must choose Sanskrit in the language test of CUET. 
  • For BA Yoga admission, Candidates must choose Hindi/English in the language test of CUET.

Candidates must visit the online website of NTA to register themselves for CUET 2023. The details of filling up the application form are given below:

  • Register using a valid ID & Mobile Number
  • Select the University – “Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University” to apply here
  •  All the personal details and academic details ( 10th & 12th Mark sheets) are to be uploaded
  • Scanned photograph & signature of the Candidate must be uploaded
  • Application fees are needed to be paid in online mode through Debit/Credit card/Net banking
  • The printout of the application form must be taken out for future use.

SLBSRSV offers postgraduate programmes in M.A. for 2 years. The M.A course has 20 specializations and is a full time time programme with 38 seats allotted per subject. Candidates seeking admission to this course must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University. For selection, aspirants have to pass the Entrance Test conducted by the University.

SLBSRSV M.A. Course Eligibility

  • For applying to any of the M.A. courses offered in SLBSRSV, candidates must qualify the 3 year Bachelor’s Degree of Shastri/ B.A. with Sanskrit or equivalent exam from a recognized University.
  • Qualify the Entrance Test conducted by the University.
  • Candidates with a minimum age of 19 years.

 SLBSRSV M.A. Course Selection Criteria

  • The selection process in any of the M.A. courses are based on merit obtained in the Entrance Test conducted by Vidyapeetha.

The SLBSRSV offers undergraduate level B.Ed. programme for 2 years. It is a full time course with 200 seats. Candidates seeking admission to this course must qualify their Graduation level exam in Arts from a recognized University. Also, aspirants have to qualify the All India Combined Entrance Test for selection.

SLBSRSV B.Ed. Course Eligibility

  • Candidates must secure a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade either in B.A. with Sanskrit and/or M.A. (Sanskrit).
  • Final year candidates can also apply.
  • Candidates with a minimum age of 20 years.

SLBSRSV B.Ed. Course Selection Criteria

  • Candidates must qualify the All India Combined Entrance Test followed by an Interview.

SLBSRSV offers M.Phil. programmes in Yoga, Ved-Vedanga, Darshan, Sahitya and Sanskrit for 1 year. The M.Phil programme has 20 specializations and are full time courses. Candidates seeking admission to any of the M.Phil. courses must have a postgraduate degree.

SLBSRSV M.Phil. Course Eligibility

  • Candidates must have a postgraduate degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point-scale (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent approved degree from a foreign educational institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency.
  • For SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently Abled and Other Categories of candidates, a relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Candidates with a minimum age of 22 years.

SLBSRSV M.Phil. Course Selection Criteria

  • The selection process in any of the M.Phil. courses are based on merit obtained in the Regular Course Entrance Test conducted by Vidyapeetha.
  • Students who have passed examination outside the Indian Universities system and who may not have obtained a Master's degree in relevant subjects may be considered, provided that each case shall be examined on its own merit by the Admissions Committee and in accordance with the recommendations of the Equivalence Committee.

SLBSRSV offers Ph.D. programmes for 3years - 6 years of duration. The Ph.D. programme is offered under 4 areas of research with 20 specializations. Candidates seeking admission to any of the Ph.D. programmes must have a Master’s degree in the related field. Also, a valid VVET exam score is mandatory.

SLBSRSV Ph.D. Course Eligibility

  • Candidates must have a master’s degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point-scale.
  • Candidates who cleared M.Phil. course work with 55% marks or equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point-scale and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degrees can proceed to do research work leading to Ph.D degree in the same institution in the integrated program.\
  • For SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently Abled and Other Categories of candidates, a relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

  • Any NCTE guidelines issued will be applicable.
  • As per UGC regulation 2016 a Professor at any given point of time cannot guide more than 8 research students, an Associate Professor cannot guide more than 6 and Assistant Professor cannot guide more than 4.

  • Application fee (SSET, SAET, VVET) INR 1500 to be paid.
  • For minimum age for SET is 20 years and minimum of 22 years is required for SAET.
  • Candidates who have cleared JRF are exempted from appearing in VVET but they must fill an online application with required Fee.
  • For SC/ST/OBC/ Other Disabled candidates a relaxation of 5% marks is allowed.  For Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservation policy of Govt. of India will be followed.

Ques. Is there any scholarship programme provided in SLBSRSV?

Ans. SLBSRSV provides scholarships to most of the students. Students will be approved scholarship grants based on the marks obtained by them in the subsequent examination, on merit and on recommendations of the scholarship committee.

Ques. what is the fee structure for B.A. courses in SLBSRSV?

Ans. For B.A. course students have to pay a yearly fee of INR 1,200 and for the entire 3 year course it would be INR 3,600.

Ques. Does SLBSRSV provide any hostel facility to students?

Ans. Currently, the SLBSRSV has only one hostel accommodation for boys. There are 51 rooms in the hostel and it can accommodate 99 students (male). For Research scholars and seniors the hostel provides single seated rooms. For other students there are 16 double seated rooms and 16 triple seated rooms.
