National Museum Institute (NMI) is an autonomous university which was established in January 1989. The university is located at Janpath, New Delhi. NMI was given a status of deemed university on April 1989.
The university offers Master of Arts (MA) programme in the following 3 disciplines: Check NMI Admission
- History of Art – 25 seats
- Museology – 15 seats
- Conservation – 15 seats
Candidates can get admission to the MA course on the basis of written test and interview conducted by Joint Selection Committee of the university. Interested candidates can register themselves to the MA course by submitting the fee amount of Rs. 300/- (which includes registration fee of Rs. 200 + admission fee of Rs. 100).
Foreign candidate or NRI’s can register themselves to the MA course by submitting the fee amount of $100.

History of Art:
Eligibility
- Candidate should possess graduation degree from Indian University recognized by UGC or foreign recognized university with minimum 50% of marks.
- Candidates who working in service personnel with Central Government with at least 5 years regular service will be eligible to apply
- Candidates should have Knowledge of one classical / foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, and Italian other than mother tongue will also be an additional qualification
- Candidates should also have studied Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts
- Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks in written test, followed by an interview
Museology:
Eligibility
- Candidate must possess B.A/ B.Sc. (Honours) or B.A. / B.Sc. / B.F.A. (3 years) degree in any discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences / Science with 50% of marks
- Candidate must have studied subjects related to History of Art and Museum Studies in background/ PG Diploma.
- Candidates who working in service personnel with Central Government with at least 5 years regular service will also be eligible to apply.
- Candidates must have Knowledge of one classical / foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, and Italian other than mother tongue will also be an additional qualification.
- Candidates must obtain at least 50% marks in written test followed by an interview.
Conservation:
Eligibility
- Candidates must possess graduation degree from this university or any other recognized university in any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or Visual/Fine Arts or Architecture, Engineering and Technology with minimum 50% of marks.
Or
- Candidates must possess graduation degree from this university or any other recognized university in any of the following subjects: History, Geography, Anthropology, Archaeology or related disciplines with minimum 50% of marks and must have studied 10+2 / Senior Secondary / Intermediate level education in science stream
- Candidates who working in service personnel with Central Government with at least 5 years regular service will be eligible to apply.
- Candidates must have Knowledge of one classical / foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, and Italian other than mother tongue will also be an additional qualification.
- Candidates must obtain 50% marks in written test followed by an interview
National Museum Institute MA Selection Process 2021
Selection of the candidate to the MA course will be done on the basis of written test and interview conducted by Joint Selection Committee.
How to Apply?
- Candidate must have to download the application form available at the university website
- Candidates can register themselves to the MA course by submitting fee amount of Rs. 300/- (which includes registration fee of Rs. 200 + admission fee of Rs. 100).
- Foreign candidate or NRI’s can register themselves to the above mentioned post graduate courses by submitting the fee of amount $100.
- Candidates must submit separate application forms for taking admission into more than one subject
- Candidate must pay the fees by cash/crossed local cheque/Drafts drawn at Bank of Baroda, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.

Enclosures
- Attested photocopies of Pass certificate of Class 10th.

Reservation Process 2021
- 15% seats are reserved for the SC candidates and 7.5 seats are reserved for the ST category candidates.
- 27% seats are reserved for the OBC category candidates and 3% seats are reserved for the Differently Abled candidates.
National Museum Institute MA Scholarship
- University provide 8 merit scholarships of amount Rs. 3000/- per month according to the canddiates performance.
- University also provide 8 merit cum means scholarship of amount Rs. 1000/- per month.
- Candidates must have to maintain 66.4% attendance to avail scholarship.
