It’s highly illogical to compare BIT Mesra with NIT Allahabad. MNNIT Allahabad belongs to a different league and is way better than BIT Mesra. Its CS and IT placements are surprisingly better than the new IITs too.

The best part about MNIT Allahabad is its extensive job opportunities. Companies coming for CS students allow IT and ECE students to sit for placements as well. So all you need to do is become proficient in coding and clear the interview smartly.

Which is better: IT at IIIT Allahabad or CSE at BIT Mesra?

One of my friends chose CSE at BIT Mesra over IT at IIIT Allahabad. However, he regretted his decision and after a month, got admission into IIIT Allahabad IT through the CSAB spot round.

BIT Mesra has a huge campus, however, its student intake is much higher as compared to IIIT Allahabad. Even in terms of location, Allahabad is a better choice than Mesra.

In terms of placements, the average package for BIT CSE stood at INR 19.27 LPA 2022. At IIIT Allahabad, the average package for B.Tech stood at INR 30.68 LPA during the same year.

The course fee is also much more affordable at IIIT Allahabad. The total course fee for B.Tech IT from IIIT Allahabad is INR 8,44,700, while at BIT, the B.Tech CSE course fee is INR 13,04,500 (does not include the hostel fees at both).

Thus, I would suggest you choose IT at IIIT Allahabad over CSE at BIT Mesra.

IT In IIIT- Allahabad is a great choice. It is one of the best colleges in India for this field and branch. The course structure is amazing and polished and focuses more on topics related to IT. The course emphasizes practical applications. There are almost no courses that are out of the sphere of field.

The labs and infrastructure are one of a kind and the student culture in IT is very motivated. Most of the students start taking part in competitive programming right from the 1st or 2nd year. If you find coding really interesting and see it as a career, then you should definitely go for IIIT-Allahabad. The coding culture is awesome and people praise it a lot. You will love the college for its study environment. If you feel the passion and love for hardware-oriented work, you should definitely go for ECE.

Placements:

The placements for IT are really good. They have top IT companies or firms visiting the campus.
Some of the top companies are Microsoft, Facebook, Adobe, Flipkart, Amazon, Directi, etc. offers a great package.

Talking about the disadvantages, the campus doesn’t lie in the proximity area of any big city or town. The proximity to a metro city nearby is a huge problem. Though BIT Mesra has the same issue, hence I feel that both the colleges are even. A journey to Delhi by train takes a lot of time, probably a one-night trip.

Education: The quality of education is average given the fact that some professors are experienced while some must conduct monotonous classroom sessions.
Campus: BIT Mesra has a beautiful campus surrounded by lush greenery. The flowers, rivers, temples, and beauty make it the perfect place for nature lovers.
Fee Structure: BIT Mesra BTech fees are higher than IITs and NITs because it’s a private engineering college. The total fee stands at 14.42 Lakhs which is much lower than most private engineering colleges though.
Clubs: CS and IT students can upgrade their skills through various clubs that conduct regular workshops and contests. ACM focuses on competitive coding.
Extracurricular activities: The institute does not focus on academics alone and students are given freedom to pursue their choice of extracurriculars through a number of clubs.
Campus life: BIT Mesra has a very vibrant campus life and students celebrate all major festivals. A number of events are organized such as Bitotsav, pantheon, Vajra, sports meet, etc.

Which is better for a BTech, IT at NIT Durgapur or IT at BIT Mesra?

My brother is a B.Tech IT student at BIT Mesra. Here is a list of what you can expect from this 4 year course at BIT Mesra-

The CSE and IT batches have different sections.
If you work hard and prepare well, you can intern at companies like Gsechs , Amazon, Directi, Microsoft, etc. during your third year, through on campus internship drives.
IT students get the opportunity to be placed in top IT firms like Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, Snapdeal, among others.
IT is the best and the most chill branch of BIT Mesra.
You will have ample time for research work and projects.
If you work hard, you can achieve a good CGPA as an IT student at BIT Mesra.
DC, a software which offers 13 Mbps download speed, is a great bonus while you are at the BIT campus.
However, fees at BIT Mesra are a lot higher than the NITs.

Thus, if the fee is not an issue for you, I would recommend you to join BIT Mesra for your B.Tech IT degree.
