- Throughout the course, students will tackle issues such as the nutritional significance of processed foods in the diet, the effects of nutrition labeling and nutrition claims, functional foods; and catering technology and nutritional quality.
- Alongside developing current techniques in food analysis, structure, and processing you will gain in-depth knowledge of current health topics such as heart disease, and antioxidants and their health benefits.
- Students will also gain knowledge and understanding of the functions of food and nutrients and their relationship to health and disease.
- In the final months of your course, using the knowledge you have gained from the core modules, they will be ideally positioned to choose an exciting problem to investigate, which will be influenced by current research thinking within the field.
- This project will provide students with the key experience in independent research they need to advance their careers. The research project will also help students to develop the personal skills they will need to communicate effectively in future professional activities such as presentations.

- Students must have a bachelor's degree with a 2:2 (Hons) in a subject containing biology and chemistry content.
