Health Science is interested in the improvement, maintenance and prevention of illness. There are two parts to health science: the study, research, and knowledge of health and the application of that knowledge to improve wellbeing and improve health services.
Health Sciences has a long tradition of partnership-working with employers such as the NHS and patient and public representatives to design courses that have impact for students and services alike.
Healthcare systems are complex, and improvement challenges are usually multifaceted. Leading health science academic departments bring experience of working with professionals and health services, together with world-leading research in healthcare improvement, to help service managers identify changes and evidence-based solutions that can lead to real world improvements in the delivery of healthcare.
