• Our course examines key films, movements and moments in film history and there are also opportunities for students to pursue topics that interest them from particular film genres to renowned directors.
• Whilst the programme is largely theoretical, students have the opportunity to demonstrate an understanding of theory through creative film practice via the design or creation of artefacts such as scripts, storyboards and short films.
• The course can be combined with a variety of complementary subjects on the Warrington Campus.
• Our course investigates a variety of media institutions, industry perspectives and texts. It explores the central role of the media in our everyday lives, and challenges the common sense assumptions that surround it.
• The course encourages understanding of how and why media institutions operate as they do, the representation or exclusion of some issues by the media, the role of new technologies, and the opportunities and challenges offered. Our course offers a theoretical framework to analyse contemporary media.
