Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
To enter the course students need to have one of the following requirement:
- A minimum of a second class honours degree in a computing-related subject. Students from graduates in other disciplines (such as mathematics, physics, or engineering) with experience in programming would also be considered on individual merits.
- An unclassified degree plus at least two year’s further study or professional experience in computing-related subjects.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they complete one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Completed a 4-year bachelor's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
- Or, completed a B.Sc/B.Com/B.A (3-4 year) degree from well-ranked institutions with an overall grade of 70%.

The International Student Support Team offers help and advice to international students coming to study at CU Coventry. If students need sponsorship to travel to study in the UK, students will need to apply for a Student visa. They can apply for their Student visa within 6 months of their intended course start date. In order to be granted a Student visa, students must pass a points-based assessment and score 70 points. Students usually get a decision on their visa within 3 weeks.
The type of permission students require depends on the type, of course, they are coming to study:
- If students are coming for a course or period of study that is for less than six months, students may be able to come as a short-term student.
- If students are coming to study a course that is longer than 6 months, a student visa is issued for study.
The different types of visa are:
- Short-Term Study Visa: If students are coming to the UK to study a course for less than 6 months and do not intend to extend their study in the UK then they should apply for a Short-Term Study Visa.
- Tier 4 student visa (Child student Visa) – Students can apply for a Child Student visa if they are between 4 and 17 years old and they want to study at an independent school in the UK.

Work Study
- Working while studying will help towards living costs and enable students to gain valuable work experience. International students are able to work in the UK during and after their studies subject to specific requirements. Students get the opportunity to work full-time.
- Students can also work part-time with the University’s schools, faculties, and departments at events such as open days, and get paid on a project-by-project basis.
- The work-study program gives the student a chance to work up to 20 hours per week during term-time and full-time during the vacation period.
- In accordance with the University's Regulations, research students should not work more than 6 hours per week for the University alongside their research degree.
- There is an exceptional situation where more working hours are required to make the opportunity viable, the worker may work up to a maximum of 12 hours in any one week, but the aggregate total for the calendar year must not exceed 312 hours (i.e 52 x 6 hours).
