The Biochemistry (Including Foundation Year) course offered by the University of EssexÊincludes a foundation year (Year Zero), followed by a further three years of study. During your Year Zero, you study three academic subjects relevant to your chosen course as well as a compulsory academic skills module, with additional English language for non-English speakers.
After successful completion of Year Zero in our Essex Pathways Department, you progress to complete your course with our School of Biological Sciences. At Essex, our BSc Biochemistry focuses on structure-function relationships of biomolecules which offers insight into the interactions that occur in the complex cellular pathways that control vision and cell death. Biochemistry considers molecular-level processes across a range of disciplines including genetics, microbiology, forensics and medicines. Because of this breadth, biochemistry is hugely important, and advanced in this field over the past 100 years have been staggering. ItÕs an exciting time to be part of this fascinating area of study.
