Improving the magnetic properties of these steels will lead to significant improvements in energy efficiency and device size.ÊCogent Power, based in Newport, are internationally leading manufacturers of these materials. The nitriding of electrical steels promotes the development of the steelÕs magnetic properties but the present process, which utilises ammonia decomposition, is relatively inefficient and inconsistent.
The aim of the project is to study the rates of nitriding of electrical steel surfaces, develop an understanding of the mechanism of ammonia decomposition and nitrogen diffusion and identify the factors that control nitriding efficiency.

Academic Requirements:

Applicants should complete a bachelor’s degree or masters degree in relevant subject
Official transcripts of all the previous academic experience
Students should provide evidence of previous research experience

English Language Requirements:

IELTS Academic: 6.5 minimum overall with minimum of 5.5 in each subskill
PTE Academic: Atleast 69 overall with minimum of 59 in communicative skills
TOEFL IBT: minimum 90 overall with scores of 17 in writing, 17 in listening, 18 in reading and 20 for speaking
