Doctor of Philosophy [Ph.D] (Performance)

Research-active staff at the School of Music offer supervision in all areas across
- musicology
- composition
- performance.
You may specialise in any of these areas for PhD, presenting work in one of three different formats: a thesis, a portfolio of compositions with commentary, or a performance recital with supporting thesis.
We combine acknowledged research expertise in dedicated areas with a commitment to the wider scholarly world, and a clear sense of our role in the cultural life of a capital city.
Strategic collaborations with international organisations, including the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Welsh National Opera, and National Museum Wales, allow us to make extensive contributions to the world of music, both within and beyond academia.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Applicants should complete a bachelor’s degree or masters degree in relevant subject
- Official transcripts of all the previous academic experience
- Students should provide evidence of previous research experience
English Language Requirements:
- IELTS Academic: 6.5 minimum overall with minimum of 5.5 in each subskill
- PTE Academic: Atleast 69 overall with minimum of 59 in communicative skills
- TOEFL IBT: minimum 90 overall with scores of 17 in writing, 17 in listening, 18 in reading and 20 for speaking
Indian Student Specific Requirements:
- A minimum of 55-60% in bachelors degree and masters degree
- Previous experience in research work
