- A recent £2.5m University commitment to these Chinese collaborations has led to the appointment of four research fellows whose efforts are focused on developing research which has global impact.
- In support of these activities, we now seek to employ a smart and motivated PhD student to investigate the role of Wnt signalling in gastric cancer with and without Helicobacter pyloris infection.
- There is a strong correlation between chronic infection with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) and gastric cancer, however, the molecular events which cause this infection to trigger gastric neoplasia are poorly understood. Interestingly, Hp activates the Wnt pathway in the stomach, suggesting this pathway maybe an important mediator of Hp associated gastric cancer.
